Go Ahead… Check Out My Booty

Look, I’m in love with my yoga pants, plain and simple. Day off, chilling with friends, working out, lounging.. I’m almost guaranteed to wear them. Added bonus: my butt looks good in them. However, it might scream “check me out!” Friends have started to tell me to start wearing “real pants”. I guess it’s gotten that bad. Does that mean it’s not appropriate to wear yoga pants on a date? But they’re so comfortable!

On a (first) date, you want to feel comfortable, but you also want to dress to impress as well. This may be your only chance to make a good impression and unfortunately, people do judge us on the way we dress. Not dressed up? Dress to short? Wearing flip flops? Sweats? Yeah, good luck getting the second date. I’m not saying that the way you dress is everything, but your date does expect you to show up like you put in a little bit of effort. I once went on a date where the guy told me he was going to be late… he was looking for his khakis so he can look good for me! He didn’t end up finding them, but the fact that he tried was cute and showed that he cared. He looked decent in the end anyway!

In an interview, you get that one chance once you walk into the door to impress the interviewer. Dressing up shows that you are put together, care about the position, and can also help you convey confidence. Here are some tips on what to wear for guys and girls:

  • Full suit– neutral color and make sure the top and bottom matches
  • Button down shirt/ blouse
  • Tie for guys
  • Skirts past the knees for women
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Little to no jewelry and perfume/cologne
  • Padfolio

Also, make sure that your clothes are clean, pressed, and ironed with no wrinkles. What you wear presents a certain image whether you care or not. Trust me, it make a difference between “Yeah, I just threw this on” to “I’m a professional and I look the part”. So throw those yoga pants back in the closet and use them for what they’re intended for because baby, you got some people to impress!
